The incline bench press is a compound push performed on a bench set to roughly a 30–45° incline. It emphasizes the upper chest (clavicular pectoralis major), with the front deltoids and triceps as major assisting muscles. You sit back on the incline, lower the bar to your upper chest with elbows tucked and shoulder blades pinned, then press it back up to lockout. It fills in the top of the chest that a flat bench trains less directly, and it's easy to progress because you can add small increments to the bar over time.
