Accessibility Statement
Effective June 16, 2026
LiftHero is built so anyone who wants to train can train. We design, build, and audit the app and this website to be usable with assistive technology, in low-vision conditions, with limited motor control, and across a wide range of cognitive and sensory needs. This page describes the standards we hold ourselves to, what we've shipped, what we're still working on, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
1. Our commitment
We treat WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the conformance target for the LiftHero mobile app and the lifthero.app website. Accessibility is part of our definition of done — not a post-launch cleanup item. Every new feature ships through an accessibility check before it goes out the door, and we treat accessibility regressions with the same urgency as functional bugs.
2. Standards we follow
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the baseline conformance target for the mobile app and the website.
- Apple Human Interface Guidelines — Accessibility for VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, Reduce Transparency, Switch Control, and contrast guidance on iOS.
- Android Accessibility developer guidance for TalkBack, font scaling, contrast, and touch-target sizing.
- Ongoing audits with Xcode Accessibility Inspector on iOS builds and the Android Accessibility Scanner on Android builds before every release.
- Manual screen-reader walkthroughs of high-traffic flows (onboarding, active workout, paywall, account settings) on real devices.
3. Features built in
The following are shipped today or actively being rolled out across screens:
- VoiceOver support on iOS and TalkBack support on Android for every interactive element.
- Dynamic Type and font scaling respected up to 200% of system default, with layouts that reflow instead of clipping.
- Higher-contrast theme option for users who need stronger separation than the default palette provides.
- Reduce Motion honored via the OS preference, plus an in-app override in Settings for users who want to tune it independently of the system.
- Haptic and audio cues on the rest timer so the end of a rest interval is signaled by more than just a visual change.
- 44pt minimum touch targets on every tappable control, spaced to avoid accidental adjacent activations.
- Semantic labels on every button, icon, chart point, chip, and state indicator — not just decorative alt text.
- Keyboard and external-input navigation on the website, with a visible focus ring and logical tab order.
4. Known limitations
We'd rather be honest about what isn't conformant yet than pretend the work is finished. The following items are tracked and are being actively worked on:
- Chart summaries. Some progress charts (volume, 1RM trend, weekly load) currently rely on a visual presentation without a full text equivalent for screen-reader users. Text summaries are scheduled for v1.1.
- Switch Control optimization. Core flows are reachable via Switch Control today, but we're still tuning group navigation order on the active workout screen and the community feed for fewer switch activations per action.
- Video content. If we add demonstration videos in a future release, we'll ship them with captions and audio descriptions from day one.
- Third-party sign-in screens. The Apple, Google, and Supabase-hosted password reset surfaces follow those providers' accessibility implementations, which we don't directly control.
We're actively working on each of these and will retire items from this list as they ship.
5. Reporting accessibility issues
If something in LiftHero isn't usable for you — or is harder than it should be — please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as a priority bug class and respond within 14 days.
Email lifthero.support@gmail.com with the subject line "Accessibility" and, if you can, include:
- Your device and operating system version (e.g. iPhone 14, iOS 18.2).
- The assistive technology you were using (VoiceOver, TalkBack, Switch Control, a font-scaling setting, etc.).
- The screen or flow where you ran into the issue.
- What you were trying to do.
- What happened, and what you expected to happen instead.
A screenshot or short screen recording helps but isn't required. If email isn't accessible to you, let us know in any format that works and we'll meet you there.
6. Conformance review timeline
We review this statement and our conformance posture at least every 12 months, and additionally after any major feature ship that changes how users interact with the app — new tabs, new media types, new input flows. The effective date above reflects the most recent review.
7. Third-party content
LiftHero may surface third-party content — partner cards, shared posts and routines from other users, links to external resources — that we don't directly author or control. We can't guarantee the accessibility of every external surface, but we encourage partners and creators to meet the same standards we hold ourselves to, and we're happy to relay specific accessibility feedback to them on your behalf.
